“Oh dear God they didn’t, did they?” - yes, yes they did.
I stumbled accross this video earlier and I find it almost hard to believe that this is real and that someone, at some point, in the Windows dev team said “Hey, I have an idea to promote service pack 1…”.
I can understand the words “I have an idea” within any reach of a Microsoft building being the phrase to strike fear into the hearts of PC users but I just can’t understand why this was created.

Shutdown Day is just is not going to happen for me I hate to say because GTA4 is out April 29th and that Xbox is going to be burning it’s little heart out.
It’s a great idea, a bit like Googles’ “Lights out” hour they did recently where they turned the background to black on the search engine page, but I’m just one of those people who could live without a computer easily but given the gun wielding madman opportunity… well, it’s just not going to happen.
Incidentally I rarely use the PC/laptop on the weekend so when this is happening I guess that counts right?
I think this comes down to one thing: is an Xbox a computer. If not, then I’m in.

“New Design!, Handsome Appearance, Top-Quality”
Me and a mate digitalgravy from work decided to buy a couple of ‘infrared combat tanks’ for a bit of lunch break desktop world warfar (LBDWW for short?).
Cutting a short story shorter I went for the cheap option on eBay. “OMFG” cheap from a ebayer called hobby*planet. Heres the listing.
This has to have some of the funniest badly translated Chinese I’ve ever had the misfortune of reading on a toy (or high quality model if you believe the listing). Read the rest of this entry »

I bet a million people have seen this but Greg Martin’s Illustration, Photography and Photoshop work is just stunning and the website just holds the same feeling.
I’m not one for flash websites, in fact I pretty much disliked all of them that I have found so far, however this is just ‘right’. It does not make you feel like you’re using an application (which most flash sites make me feel like) and it is relatively easy to navigate.

This is a simple tutorial on adding light effective drop shadow borders to images.
Drop shadows make an image or photo stand out on a page making it seem like it has a little weight behind it.
Borders are easy to apply to any image using the border attribute but using more CSS can produce a good visual result without the use of additional images.
This effect can be applied site wide on just the ‘img’ tag if needed.

Just a tiny little announcement to say I upgraded to Wordpress 2.5.0 from 2.3.3 which, so far, was completely painless.
There was a few “oh no… ftp dropping connection? no no not good!” moments but most of the time it behaved thanks to FileZilla’s handy “failed transfer box”. This is going to be brief as I completely missed the beta and haven’t had a chance to look around yet but it looks ‘nice’ (short of a better word) so far.
However, after just writing that and trying to add a link my ‘insert link’ box is just blank. Not good. I’m going to have a play and see what happens…
